
This afternoon immersion is an opportunity to deeply experience and begin to understand the science and spirit of the traditional Ashtanga yoga system. Yoga Chikitsa, the Primary Series, is a therapeutic combination of asana, vinyasa, bandha, and drishti (posture, breath/movement coordination, awareness of the subtle energetic centers, and gazing points).

Kate O'Donnell, a Milford native, and author of The Everyday Ayurveda Cookbook: A Seasonal Guide to Living Well, joins us at WML on Dec 10, 6:30-8PM to discuss the ancient healing system of India, and how to apply Ayurveda for your health. Kate will offer a reading from her book, released by Shambhala Publications Dec 1. Signed copies will be available for purchase.
Participants will be encouraged to roll up the sleeves and help out in the kitchen, applying techniques and tools, and tasting the dishes we are creating. Participants will also be learning and practicing Dinacharya, daily self-care, such as oiling of the skin, nose, and scalp- mindfulness techniques for relaxation, and gentle yoga for digestive health. Class time will include talks on Ayurvedic diet and nutrition as well as interactive cooking demos and tastings. Students are encouraged to attend Kripalu yoga classes and practice basic dinacharya during our immersion, which they will learn on opening night.

This program is for beginning cooks and seasoned cooks, anyone wanting to learn more about how to apply the traditional principles and techniques of Ayurvedic cookery in their kitchen and daily life.
